Periodontology

Periodontology is a dental surgical specialty focusing on periodontitis treatment. Apart from this, it is related to implant placement, bone grafts as well as soft tissue grafts to improve smile aesthetics.

Periodontitis is chronic bacterial infection leading to gingival bleeding, swelling and erythema combined with bone loss around teeth. Scaling/ Root Planning is part of the initial non-surgical periodontitis treatment using special hand instruments, ultrasonic tips and Airflow.

The practice has received Guided Biofilm Therapy certification and equipment of latest technology is used.

The surgical phase of periodontal treatment follows scaling/ root planning and focuses on creating conditions suitable for proper oral hygiene along with bone graft placement where possible to regenerate the missing tissues.

They are titanium screws placed inside the bone to replace one or more missing teeth without affecting the adjacent teeth.

Dental implants can support single crowns, bridges as well as removable dentures.

Lack of oral hygiene, smoking, poorly designed implant supported prosthesis etc can cause infection of the implant surface and bone lose around them leading to peri-implantitis. The treatment aims for decontamination of the implant surface combined with regeneration of the lost bone, where is possible.

Usually, bone graft procedures are required in areas where implants are planned to be placed. Bone graft is placed using different Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) techniques, such as sinus lift.

It can be used to improve smile aesthetics by covering recessions and changing gingival contour.

A beautiful smile every day
